Mountain Chalet Austria is part of Dog Walk Trail.
So there are several possibilities to use the Dog Walk Trail formula.
Activities at DogWalkTrail
The MountainChalets are rented out and managed by DogWalkTrail. You will find DogWalkTrail in the DogMountainInn located next to the MountainChalets.
At DogWalkTrail, it is possible to do various activities during your stay. Both in terms of hiking and eating in the bistro at the DogMountainInn.
All this is possible to book in advance by mutual agreement, and on site it is of course always possible to ask what is possible should you not have booked in advance.
Throughout the year, guided walks can be booked with us. Minimum participation is 2 people. We offer hikes from very simple in the valley to hikes in the Grossglockner area at 2000 - 2500 metres altitude.
Hikes can basically be booked either with a private guide or in a hiking package (DogMountainExperience). You can find both package and private guide information at www.dogwalktrail.com/dogmountainexperience/.
The DogMountainExperience consists of:
Info chat on Saturday evening or Sunday morning (over a drink or cup of coffee/tea ‘on the house’).
DogWalkTrail Goodybag
Hiking info folder on loan with written out hikes and tips.
2 walks accompanied by a DogWalkTrail guide. (approximately 2.5 to 3 hours of walking).
Independent written-out hike.
Price DogMountainExperience: € 125.00 p.p.
Private guide:
Prices for a private walking guide (Dutch-speaking) are as follows:
€ 250.00 for a full day 09.30 am to no later than 16.00 pm. (3 to 5 hours of walking)
€ 150.00 for a half day 09.30 a.m. to no later than 12.30/13.00 p.m. (2 to 3 hours of hiking)
During your booked week, you can call via WhatsApp to 0043 676 7601022 or
0043 676 6267910 you can enquire about that week's programme.
If you then actually join the walk, at least the following clothing is required for the walk. (Bold print is compulsory!)
Good mountain/hiking shoes minimum category A or preferably B (ankle-high)
Hiking trousers (on our hikes, hiking trousers are mandatory, so NO jeans)
Mackintosh and rain trousers (against wind and rain)
Thin fleece jacket or soft shell jacket.
Multiple thin layers are much more practical than 1 thick one as you can then adapt to the weather conditions.
Daypack (at least 20/30 litres, rainwear and water should be able to fit)
Water bottle/bidon of at least 1 litre
Sunscreen (high factor)
Sunglasses
For the dog:
5-point harness (this harness is over the back and not just the chest)
In the gondola and in public transport, you must carry a muzzle or muzzle for the dog.
We also have both items on loan if necessary.
Vaseline or paw wax for the dogs paws in winter possibly.
Other equipment that is useful in the mountains when you are out with your dog can be borrowed from us such as hip belts, harnesses and poles.
Suppen/Canoeing
In the summer months, we occasionally go canoeing and/or supping on Lake Zell together with the dogs.
Dog walking service
In winter (December to March), we offer a dog walking service for our DogMountainInn guests. This is possible up to 3 days a week from Monday to Friday.
Price per day € 15.00 per pack (maximum 2 dogs per pack).
A walking service means that the dog is walked in the neighbourhood and can run around in the garden. Cuddling and then being brought back to the apartment with some treats. The time when this can take place is by mutual agreement.
We recommend not to leave the dogs alone on Sunday mornings so they can get used to it.
You need to book this in advance via the booking form when you book a house.
Doggy Day Care
You will take the dog to the local dog shelter where they can then stay for a few hours. The shelter has an exercise field and nice rooms where the dogs stay while you are wintering.
Price €35.00 for 6 hours.

Meals
On the ground floor of the DogMountainInn you will find the bistro.
In the winter months of December, February and March and the summer months of July, August, we offer dinner twice a week. This is not a la carte but eat what the pot serves principle. These meals consist of tasty dishes using local produce. This means meat from Pinzgau cattle, cheese and dairy products from our neighbouring villages and as much local produce as possible from the organic market.
We have plenty of vegetarian dishes that can also be prepared for our vegan guests.
Since we only have a small bistro and it is only for our own house guests and we also only have a small kitchen, it is unfortunately impossible for us to take into account all wishes for more complicated diets.
Dogs are of course welcome in the bistro. However, dogs must be kept on a leash during meals, and we also ask guests eating with a group to leave dogs that can be alone in the house for a while. This is to avoid arguments under the table.
Prices:
Main course + dessert €22.50
Restaurants
Check here https://www.piesendorf.at/de/aktuelles/kulinarik_genuss/kulinarik/pois which restaurants are in the area. Call or email them if dogs are allowed. Many restaurants in Austria do allow dogs.
Tauernhex in Piesendorf and the Libelle in Niedernsill are at least dog-friendly.
